Dave is dedicated to serving the citizens of La Mesa, and will continue to ensure that the City provides high quality services without increasing fees for services or using all of the City’s money reserves.
During his tenure as a member of the City Council, Dave has made many significant contributions to the success of the City. Through his leadership, Paramedics now respond to emergencies with the Fire Department; Proposition D was passed, providing funds for much-needed Police, Fire and City Administration facilities; construction of sports facilities at the Junior Seau Sports Complex at Parkway Middle School is complete; several redevelopment projects have been completed in the City with more scheduled; City has developed a financially responsible budget in the face of state cuts.
Dave continues to fight for the City’s fair share of taxes that have been withheld by the State of California and the County of San Diego. Without these funds, the City is faced with drastic cuts that may affect the City’s ability to appropriately respond to the needs of the citizens of La Mesa.
Dave’s career has been dedicated to the Fire Service. He worked for the San Miguel FireProtection District for 17 years; prior to that he was with the US Federal Fire Service. Dave also served in the US Army, 8th Division, 101st Airborne. Dave currently is retired and focuses much of his time on serving as a Councilmember.
Currently Dave serves as Chairman of Public Safety Committee for the State of California for League of Cities. He is a member of the National League of Cities, Public Safety Committee. He represents the League of Cities on the State of California Prisoner Re-entry Committee. He also represents the City on the Heartland Training and Fire Communications Committee. And he is a member of the Downtown Redevelopment Committee for the City of La Mesa and the SANDAG committee on I-8 corridor to Imperial Valley.
Dave looks forward to continue serving the citizens of La Mesa as a councilman – connecting residents and business owners to their elected officials; working with other jurisdictions in East County and throughout the state to develop regional solutions to challenges facing our communities; listening to the City professionals and analyzing alternatives to develop solutions that make sense in setting a course of action for the future.
Dave is always accessible and interested in hearing from the residents of the City about ways to make life better in La Mesa.
